2008 Greater Jacksonville Fair

 

Be the first to win at the new Gem & Mineral Show and Exhibit during the 2008 Greater Jacksonville Fair.  This contest is open to all Gem & Mineral Society members.  Entries will be accepted in Exhibit Hall “A” SATURDAY,  October 25th, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Entries must be something hand crafted or created from hand crafted items at the 2008 JGMS workshops..  

 Entries may be any of the following categories: 

• Cabochons:  Mounted or unmounted.  If mounted. the mounting must also be credated by the same individual.
• Silversmithing:  Metal work must be created by the same individual.  If gem stones or cabochons are used, they must be crafted by the same individual.
• Intarsia and Inlay:  Gem stones and metal working must be created by the same individual.
• Glass and Gem Beading:  Articles must be assembled by the same individual.  Manufactured beads and clasps can be used, but extra points will be awarded to those that are made by the same individual.
• Faceting:  Mounted or unmounted.  If mounted, the mounting must also be created by the same individual. 
• Wire wrapping:  Metal work must be created by the same individual.  If gem stones or cabochons are used, they must b e created by the same individual.

With the exclusion of beads, clasps and string, no other manufactured items can be included in the creation of the entry.  Additions of pre-manufactured items are deductions in points.

Judging:  Entries will be judged by qualified judges during the Fair.

1st Place $50.00

2nd Place $30.00

3rd Place $20.00

If 20 or more entries are received, we will also present $50.00 for the entry judged

as "Best in Show.” Checks will be mailed at the conclusion of the fair.
