OCTOBER 1st IS THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING LIVESTOCK ENTRIES. Entries must be complete, including a S/S or Tax ID#, name of breeder, division, animal’s name, registration number of the sire and dam, along all applicable fees and received in the office of the Jacksonville Fair no later than October 1st. A limited amount of outside tie out space will be available to exhibitors. Barn tie space will not be assigned without receipt of a completed entry form.
Acceptance and release dates are listed in the rules and regulations of the separate divisions of this premium book please refer to them. Arrangements to receive cattle at times other than those outlined in the specific rules must be made through the Fair Livestock Department. Cattle arriving for unloading and movement into the show barn other than the specific stated hours, will be subject to veterinary charges for health certification.
Proper health certificates must be available on all animals (including nurse cows) and checked on site by a Fair appointed Livestock Inspector before livestock can enter the barn. These certificates must comply with the regulations as outlined in the “Health Regulation Requirements” in the Beef, Dairy and Sheep Sections.
Every animal must carry positive identification such as ear tags, ear tattoos or brands. Individual animal identification numbers must correspond with their particular numbers on the Official Health Certificate; there will be no exceptions. Any animal found to have it’s physical features altered or tampered with by surgery for the purpose of improving their conformation or appearance will be disqualified from the show.
Animals that are removed from the Fairgrounds before the designated time must have prior approval of a Fair Official and the Barn Superintendent. An animal that has left the Fairgrounds and is returning must be re-inspected, on site, by a veterinarian or livestock inspector along with the Barn Superintendent before they may re enter the barn. Animals may not be sold or ownership transferred during The Greater Jacksonville Fair. Transfer of ownership must occur at the conclusion of the Fair.
The Fair requests exhibitors hold their stock in the barn until the flow of spectator’s ceases; and further, that exhibitors not tie out before 9:30 p.m. under any circumstance. Due to School Tours, we request cattle be in the barn and exhibits cleaned by 9:00 am.
Class listings, phone messages, instructions and general announcements will be posted on the Agricultural Bulletin Board daily. Livestock Exhibitor Passes will be distributed from the Livestock Office located in the Agricultural Complex. Exhibitors will furnish their own water hose, wheelbarrows, pitchforks and shovels. All exhibitors shall use bedding provided by the Fair. Parking on the Fairgrounds is limited. The Fair suggest trailers belonging to exhibitors from Duval and surrounding counties used for delivery and pickup of livestock and supplies be kept home during the Fair. All other livestock trailers will be parked in a designated area, assigned by the Livestock Chairman. FEEDING OF ANIMALS BY THE PUBLIC IS NOT ALLOWED. Coin operated feed dispensing machines are not permitted in the Agricultural Complex. With the exception of dogs that assist the disabled, pets are not allowed in the barns or on the Fairgrounds. Open and loud use of profane and abusive language will not be tolerated. Sound will be maintained at a normal level. No one will be allowed to stay in the barns overnight. An exhibitor, family or family member with an outstanding balance owed the Fair shall be prohibited from showing at the Grater Jacksonville Agriculture Fair, and will not be invited back.
PROTESTS
Protests must be in writing and delivered to the Livestock Chairman within 24 hours of the cause of the protest. It must state plainly the complaint and be accompanied by a fee of $50.00, certified funds, which shall be forfeited to the Fair if the protest is not sustained. Such protest fee shall not substitute for the designated breed requirements for filing of a protest.
