Scholarship Information

Over the past 58 years the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Association is proud to have contributed over 2.5 million dollars to local charities and awarded scholarships to worthy students who have exhibited a desire to further their education.  The Association’s purpose in offering these scholarships is to encourage personal growth and assistance to qualified students planning to major in agriculture, veterinary medicine and other fields of study.

To be eligible a student must reside in one of the following Florida counties, Duval, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Nassau or St. Johns, and who at time of application is at least a high school senior, enrolled or planning to enroll in a four year university, junior college or technical institution . 

Only complete packages will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.   The scholarship package must include the application along with an essay, (500 words or less) briefly discussing the applicants background and leadership abilities and three (3) original letters of recommendation.  Applicants should list any awards, special recognition or community, high school, sorority, fraternity, civic or religious organizations in whichthey are now or have been involved and their leadership experience within those organizations. 

Concerning the letters of recommendation, they must be original.  If possible they should be written on the letterhead of the person making the recommendation.  If faxing or e-mailing the letters, the fax number or e-mail address must be that of the person writing the recommendation. 

The complete scholarship packages must be received in the office of the Greater Jacksonville Fair no later than October 1st. to be reviewed by our Scholarship Committee.  The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.  Winners will be announced during the Greater Jacksonville Fair. 

                                

Scholarship funds are assigned to and administered by the applicant’s college, university or technical institution. Should the applicant leave school, any unused portion of the scholarship will be returned to the Fair.
