Barn Tours

The Jacksonville Fair Association annually offers a limited number of barn tours, free of charge, to area school children during the school day when the carnival and fair are not open to the public.  We book between 45 - 50 students per call only. Since tours are structured and of an educational nature, we request that only 1st through 3rd grade students be booked for the tour. No Pre-K or kindergartners, please. Not counting private or home schools, Duval County has over 100 elementary schools. As much as we would like to, It is impossible to accommodate every school with their request. For this reason, schools may only book every other year, thus giving new schools the opportunity to tour the barns at the fair.Tours usually last approximately 45 minutes and are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis in the following manner.

On October 1st, at 9:00 a.m., our phone line, (353-0535) will open for reservations. Please be patient, as calls are answered in consecutive order. If the line rings constantly that means we are on the phone with another school and will get to your call as soon as possible. Since livestock is constantly moving in and out of the barns, the dates and times for the tours are limited, so be flexible. Have the teacher's name, number of students, mailing address and phone number of the school requesting the tour available when you call. Once a tour is booked, the teacher will receive a letter confirming the date and time for their tour. A waiting list is maintained yearly so if you need to cancel, we request you call as soon possible so another school might be notified.
